# Prometheus

[Prometheus](https://www.prometheus.io/) is a flexible monitoring solution in development since 2012. The software stores all its data in a time series database and offers a multi-dimensional data model and a powerful query language to generate reports of the monitored resources.

This tutorial makes no assumptions about previous knowledge, other than:

1. You are comfortable with a Linux operating system, specifically Ubuntu 20.04
2. You are comfortable being able to ssh into your node, as all operations will be done from the command line\\

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.scrt.network/secret-network-documentation/infrastructure/running-a-node-validator/maintaining-a-node-validator/node-monitoring/prometheus.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
